Enterprising it ain't!

Have you seen the Enterprise car rental commercial currently on TV? It shows a red truck pulling into a driveway, and a little girl very excited because her dad is going to use it to pick up lumber to build her a little playhouse on their property.

Now maybe they want to promote using a truck instead of the family car to get the materials to build a playhouse, but I think it's lame. A more direct ad would be to rent a truck to carry lumber to do a real house repair, or to keep from dirtying the family car by hauling garden supplies. A real and more likely scenario.

Another piece of minutia is they show the daughter bumping hammer heads with her dad at the end of the commercial. It may be a play hammer the daughter is holding, but it moves fast, and it is hard to tell. Real hardened hammer heads should never be hit against one another. One or both of them could shatter, injuring someone. Ignorant people, most likely kids, could emulate this and have a serious injury. What were the producers thinking?

Comcast Town, What Imagination

While Comcast may be loved by some, and reviled by others, their new commercial is a marvel. It looks like a combination of real people, and animated backgrounds. It has highly saturated color. It has energy. It has a really great look. A comic book feel. It is Comcast Town. You can see it at: http://www.comcasttown.com/?CMP=CMC-GORA-S-912114210001 . Look around. Click on Commercials.

I like this commercial - that should be obvious. I watch TV to be entertained. This one is entertaining. Keep up the good work.

Hogs, Swine, and Cannibalism

Have you seen the cell phone service commercial that includes two hogs dining on ham? First off, the message is that the service is low-cost, because as disgusting as the commercial is, it is more disgusting to pay a lot of hidden fees for your cell phone service. Boost Mobile is the company. You can view the commercial here: http://www.wikio.com/video/893068

Now, I would like to spend less on my cell service than I do, as I assume we all do. However, the company does not say what other benefits you receive by signing with them. Is your service better, is your billing and complaints handled with more efficiency? Are they better than the high-priced spread?

Noooo, instead we are treated to swine cannibalism, and a low price. Does it get your attention? Probably. But where did these marketing geniuses get the idea that the disgusting eating habits of pigs are going to do anything but put people off?
